Billie Eilish has graced the public yet again with another single, “Therefore I Am.”

“Therefore I Am” is the second single Eilish has released, following July’s “My Future.” The two songs are very different, but Eilish’s melodic voice remains.

The newest single is passive-aggressive, one of the many reasons why you should love it. “Therefore I Am” is a tie-in to Eilish’s 2017 track, “COPYCAT,” which debuted on her EP in 2017. The new single could be seen as a tonal cousin to “COPYCAT,” another aggressive ballad sending off a past love.

The single is perfect to sing to that jerk that left you, or even a stranger. But as you passionately sing along, don’t you have to wonder: who is Eilish talking about?

Eilish’s romantic relationships are a side we never get to see from her, and for good reason. The artist seems to get judged wherever she goes (her choice of clothes is probably the most criticized), a partner would only add to the fuel. Even so, we can’t help but ask, who? But it seems like Eilish has anticipated our curiosity, and swiftly heads it off by singing, “I don’t want press to put your name next to mine/ We’re on different lines.”

The music video for “Therefore I Am” was shot on an iPhone at the Glendale Galleria. We follow her as she grabs snacks, eats, prances around, and performs goofy dance moves. If you’re new to the Billie Ellish craze, you would never know by this video that she is a trained dancer.  The music video reminded me of those mall dates we used to go on as kids. You know, the ones where your parents dropped you off while you ate Auntie Anne’s.

Eilish has not announced the release date for her next album, but at least we know that something is brewing.
