Winter break is finally here, and while everyone may be busy Christmas shopping and going to fun (safe) Christmas events, SCAD is still having their almost daily ‘Guests and Gusto’ events for students who may interested in the many topics covered during these episodes. Here are just some of the upcoming events happening.

Join workshop ‘The Wee Box: Constructing a Custom Tiny Box with a Lid’ on ‘Guests and Gusto’

Wednesday, Dec. 9. at 10 a.m.

Margot Ecke, a SCAD professor and book conservator will be taking students through the process of making a custom box with a lid. Students will be given a full list of materials to do this fun project, such as using book board, decorative paper, and glue.

Bring your fashion drawings to life at workshop on ‘Guests and Gusto’ 

Wednesday, Dec. 9. at 10 a.m.

Join SCAD fine arts coach Thomas Dang Vu for this fun, gesture-based workshop which teaches viewers interested in fashion how to work on a large scale and develop confident contour lines that help bring life into illustration sketches.

Learn how to eye trace for still and moving images on ‘Guests and Gusto’ 

Thursday, Dec. 10. at 10 a.m.

Log in to a cross-disciplinary presentation, led by SCAD film and television associate chair Quinlan Orear, on how to anticipate and manipulate where the eyes of the audience go when they see images.

Adopt simple blueprint tricks to take environmental design to the next level on ‘Guests and Gusto’

Wednesday, Dec. 16. at 10 a.m.

Add detail and interactivity to your environments through modular blueprints in Unreal with Walter Woods, SCAD professor of motion media design. Save time by creating customizable and reusable assets that you can use again and again.

Sign up for a demonstration with fine arts coach Thomas Dang Vu as he teaches the audience how to shade using graphite and charcoal in order to create form and space. The workshop includes an introduction to different types of mark-making such as blending, hatching, and cross-hatching.
