As 2021 delivers a multitude of new inventions, screenings, and art work, SCAD Atlanta has unveiled a new exhibition “The Light Behind the Lens” by Albert Watson.

Albert Watson, based in New York City is one of the worlds most prolific photographers. Born in Scotland with a career that began in 1970, Watson pursued his education in graphic design, but later attained the credit he deserved by shooting stunning celebrity portraits for various advertisements. His talents stretch across 100 Vogue Magazine covers, 40 Rolling Stone covers, and advertisements for Prada, Chanel and Levi’s. More interestingly, he’s unearthed his portfolio to provide SCAD the opportunity to open his first solo exhibit in SCAD FASH.

The Exhibit features a variety of archives, especially one of his most successful portraits, “Malcolm X Fashion Story, New York City, 1992.”

What’s interesting to note is that each image framed on the wall has its own individual lighting. The soft glow provided alludes a strong sense of beauty in the awe-inspiring walkway that is now a public exhibit.

Not only can you find his portraits displayed across the exhibit walls, but SCAD and Watson provide the attendees a reel projection of his work so that visitors can enjoy a digital in-person presentation of his pristine artwork.
