Ashley Romasko is a SCAD alumni who graduated in 2018 with a B.F.A in fashion. She is currently reviving her love for illustrating fashion through her Instagram. “I want to share with you my process, projects and drawing tips that have helped me improve over the last 15 years.”

Before getting into her next-level detailed fashion illustrations of looks that inspire her, Romasko shared with me her career paths right after SCAD.

Right after she graduated from SCAD in Savannah, her career took flight when she got accepted to start in an apprenticeship in Paris at Louis Vuitton’s Women RTW fashion category.

She said, “Working at Louis Vuitton taught me how to be a fashion professional, not just a fashion student. It was a very intense environment that forced me to learn a lot very quickly and every day was challenging yet fun. It was a dream of mine to work in Paris since I was young enough to dream. I feel really connected to Paris and French culture. When I was there I really connected with my own imagination and creativity. It’s an experience I will cherish forever.”

After gaining experience on Louis Vuitton, Romasko worked with I-D and Vans on some marketing campaigns and editorial shoots. Fast forward to the end of 2019, she was working with RTW fashion design with the team over at Tory Burch in New York City.

Romasko said, “My career at Tory Burch has given me a place in New York to Work in a way that’s similar to my experience in Europe. I’ve gotten to do a lot of things that people young in their career don’t normally get to experience, like participating in sketch reviews with Tory and working with our stylist before shoots. I feel lucky to work with Tory because she has a specific DNA, she has a specific taste and has built a very clear, successful world around that. Not many people exist like that anymore.

Through her Instagram @ashley_romasko_illustrator, this SCAD grad is taking commissions in black and white, black ink or water color.

“I love fashion illustration because it allows me to capture the essence of the garments in my head and garments I absolutely love that already exist. I’ve been sketching since I was eight and it’s been a forever love. I used to have binders of sketches and brands made up when I was in elementary school. Sketching is so personal for designers and it looks different for everybody and that’s why I think it’s so fun. It feels like I’m on cloud nine when I get to turn on my favorite music and sketch for the whole day. My eight-year-old self would be thrilled.
