By now we all know that the power clothing is almost insurmountable, especially when you find it for a good deal. However, with the drive for branded street fashion, especially retro-influenced and vintage style clothing, it can be hard to keep up with the trend, especially when the price for these brands in the hundreds. But, as thrift-enthusiast, I’ve created a top three list of the best thrift stores I’ve been to in the Atlanta area.

  1. Rag-O-Rama, Little Five Points

Goodwill does not come close to this thrift/pawn shop. Rag-O-Rama, located in Little FivePoints, has a very selective purchasing process from sellers and an authentication process it goes through with high end designer brands. Many individuals looking for good quality or rare vintage items often find themselves here, scoring great deals and great outfits. As a buyer, you are allowed free range to view all of the collections around the store and even have an up close look at the more exclusive items behind the counter. However, if you’re coming here as a seller, you should know that seller station closes around 2 p.m. on weekdays. So if you’re expecting to et rid of some unwanted clothing, you’d better get there early.

Buffalo Exchange Atlanta, Georgia | New and Recycled Clothing

2. Buffalo Exchange, Poncey Highland

Buffalo Exchange is another great thrift infused pawn store with free parking. Buffalo Exchange is also a smaller store so the likelihood of finding great items is much higher here. The best items I’ve ever gotten here were their hats. The hat price usually ranges from $10-$17, but the resell value on almost all of them is double that. I was able to find a 1996 Atlanta Olympic hat for $26, which has average resell price of $50 – $75 dollars. Even if you are not coming here to outfit yourself, it’s a great resell market.

The Salvation Army Family Store & Donation Center in the city Atlanta

3. The Salvation Army, Marietta St.

The Salvation Army, located at 746 Marietta St NW, Atlanta, GA 30318, is a hidden gem for really great items. It’s a donation store, so majority of the items may not be what you are looking for, but typically for every 20 items you see there is one mesmerizing piece that you want to add to your wardrobe. Prices here are cheaper than at other donation stores like Goodwill — $1 hoodies and $3 pants can go a long way for your budget, especially if you are a fashion student that likes to sew and up-cycle.
