Micheal Caine, most notably known for his role as Alfred in the “Black Knight Series,” is retiring from acting.

The rumor spread like wildfire, with multiple entertainment news sources making it the top headline. It turns out the headlines were wrong. Caine is, in fact, not retiring.

The rumor most likely started when Caine did an interview with the BBC. He said, “I haven’t worked for two years and I have a spine problem which affects my legs so I can’t walk very well, and I also wrote a couple of books which were published and were successful, so I’m now not an actor. I’m a writer.”

In response to the false headlines, Caine went on, “Regarding retirement, I’ve spent over 50 years getting up at 6 a.m. to make movies, and I’m not getting rid of my alarm clock!”

But even if he’s not retiring, it still is a great time to look at Caine’s impressive career.

“Zulu” (1964)

Micheal Caine started acting in the 1950s on television, grabbing roles where he could, as many actors do. But the movie “Zulu” (1964) is what many argue to be his breakout film even though Caine had already been building his portfolio. When it originally premiered, it was a hit; the British people loved it, and it still runs on television on the anniversary of its release. In the following years, Caine starred in other hit British films such as “The Ipcress File” (1965), “Alfie” (1966) and “The Italian Job” (1969).

Then there are the ’70s and ’80s, with films “Get Carter” (1971) and “Dressed to Kill” (1980). But Caine is most often associated with Christopher Nolan’s “Dark Knight” trilogy in America — also known as the best Batman series to ever be made.

“Going Out In Style” (2017)

So for a good reason, the people freaked out; the world would miss the legacy that Michael Caine has become.
