SCAD COVID-19 masking guidance update

SCAD has sent out an email to all students with the following message:

“The CDC revised its masking guidance on Friday, Feb. 25, easing face-covering recommendations in most public settings in areas where COVID-19 transmission rates have dropped from winter peaks.

In accordance with these recommendations and those of local government officials, effective Tuesday, March 1, face coverings will no longer be required on SCAD property or on SCAD transportation services. All members of the university community should continue to complete daily health checks and monitor themselves for any possible symptoms prior to entering SCAD facilities.

For additional information on the university’s COVID-19 protocols, visit scad.edu/coronavirus. Students may direct any additional questions to the dean of students for their respective SCAD location by emailing deanofstudents@scad.edu for SCAD Savannah or dosatl@scad.edu for SCAD Atlanta. Employees with questions should email hrquestions@scad.edu.”

International student graduates – Spring quarter enrollment and F-1 requirement
For Spring 2022, F-1 students who are studying at the Atlanta or Savannah locations must meet full-time enrollment requirements with on-ground coursework to maintain non-immigrant status. Entirely virtual attendance will no longer be possible unless students decide to become SCADnow students only. Students should review all scenarios to understand their visa responsibilities.

International students: 2021 tax filings now open
All international students who resided in the U.S. under an F or J visa for even one day during 2021 must file a 2021 Form 8843 report. Those who received income during 2021 also must file a 2021 Form 1040NR tax return. To make the process easier for international students, SCAD has teamed with Sprintax, a company that offers tax-preparation solutions for international students. Sprintax’s online tool is specifically designed to help international students meet filing requirements easily and quickly, with an average time of 20 minutes to complete the tax-return process. Use SCAD discount code 21SCAD1500F when using Sprintax.
