Atlanta can be recognized by its many Instagram-aesthetic locations for selfies and portrait sessions for iPhones. This of course is typically the direction of new photographers or individuals wanting to capture a memory for social media or personal use only. One question that constantly runs in the back of my mind, however, is, “Where can I find an editorial location?” It’s no question that they exist, but the problem is where.

Now, the word “editorial” gets thrown around a lot, the same as the word “cinematic.” In most cases, editorial simply relates to telling a story without literal information. The same concept applies to a concept being cinematic. However, the ability to have an editorial location would mean that the subject matter would have to be enhanced to push the overall message or theme behind the project you are working on. An easy concept would be to find a place that offers minimal distractions in the landscape, and, fortunately, I’ve found what I believe is the perfect place for that exact aspect.

Vaughter’s Farm is a part of Arabia Mountain but used to be a dairy farm before it shut down and was abandoned. However, today it was one of the most mesmerizing locations for film and photography. Here are a few sample images I encaptured during my time there.

Here are a couple of images:

Location isn’t everything, of course. These images required good compositions and capable editing, but they do proof my theory that the landscape can increase the story behind your photography.
